I have arrived!

I am in Germany at Peter's mom's house (although she is now at work). So is my luggage. WIN-WIN!

The travel was ok! I did not sleep much, but that is nothing unexpected. Iceland was a bit rushed: since I was coming from a non-EU country, I had to go through security and passport control there. So on the negative side, it was a little nerve-wracking. But on the positive side I now have an Iceland stamp on my passport!

Then, Ane met me as I came out of baggage claim and drove me to her house. She got me set up and then went back to work for the afternoon and I have since showered and called both my mom and Peter. So, alles gut!

I am SO tired, but I am going to stay up until at least 9 pm so I adjust. :) Plans for the rest of today: perhaps a walk (Viktoriapark, or getting a pretzel?), digging my pajamas out of the suitcase, dinner with Ane (she got asparagus just for me! and grüne Soße, which is a local specialty [green sauce]), and sleep!!!

Ich bin so müde!! [I am so tired!!]

Off we go!

With a big anxiety-lump in my throat and a lot of jumpy excited butterflies in my tummy, I am off. !!! (I also have a 49-pound suitcase, a backpack, and a "handbag" crammed full of books and various other items.)

T minus 2 days!

Hello everyone! In just TWO DAYS, my journey will begin. I will board a plane and fly to Rejkjavik, where I'll board another plane...upon arrival in Frankfurt, my boyfriend Peter's lovely mother, Ane, will pick me up at the airport (yay!). I will then spend several days with Ane, getting my feet under me and that sort of thing, before I will take a train to Tübingen in April 4...for the start of my term! Three months in sunny southern Germany in the springtime, studying nothing but German, all-day every-day!

I will try to update the blog as soon as I can, but my internet connection won't be automatically set up -- it may take up to two weeks, but more likely just a few days. However, with the several days in Frankfurt with Ane, it may be a week before I post from Germany. Stay tuned!!!
